B-Y-O-Beat

Stirling-Rawdon Public Library 43 West Front St. Stirling, ON, K0K 3E0
Organized by Library

Here's something new and exciting to try right here at The Stirling-Rawdon Public Library!

Host Nik Pankow welcomes all ages and experience levels of music lovers to join in the sharing, analysis, and positive discussion of various types of music with B-Y-O-Beat!

How does B-Y-O-Beat work?
Each member selects a song to play for the group. Nik plays each song on a Bluetooth speaker (YouTube & Spotify provided), while group members listen respectfully. Once each song is finished, the group engages in a discussion analyzing the piece of music, highlighting its positive qualities and identifying with what the contributor loves about the piece of music. The goal is to find beauty in every song and to give people a chance to share music that is special or meaningful to them.

Can I just come and listen?
Some people may just want to come as listeners and enjoy the atmosphere without contributing music or discussion. That’s okay too! The beauty of this is that we are all connecting to what the contributor sees as beautiful in each song/piece. Nik will facilitate positive discussion and lead the conversation, keeping an emphasis on positivity and constructive analysis.

How do I join?
Just show up! No registration, no fees. All ages, no experience necessary! This is an inclusive environment that welcomes all types of music and music lovers. We emphasize positivity, musical growth, and curiosity. We celebrate what makes each song or piece uniquely beautiful. Come and discover new music you haven’t heard, and celebrate the beauty of music through discussion and analysis with other members in your community.
