The Stirling-Rawdon Public Library offers many programs for adults on a wide range of topics. All of our programs are free to attend (no library card required) and supplies will be provided (unless otherwise noted) but donations are always appreciated. We strive to make our programs as open and accessible to anyone but occasionally we do require registration due to space or supply limits.

This April, our adult Library Book Club invites you to explore the enchanting world of folktales and fairytales. - Art Afternoons – Wednesdays at 1pm

During the month of April, we will explore the connection between visual art and language. Each week will feature a new prompt that incorporates words, poetry, and text into the creative process. You might transform a poem into an image, layer meaningful words into a collage, create illustrated quotes, or experiment with expressive lettering and storytelling through art.
No artistic experience is required just curiosity and a willingness to create.

- Crepe Paper Roses: Adult Craft Night – Tuesday, April 14th at 6pm
Join us at the library for a relaxing and creative evening as we turn simple crepe paper streamers into beautiful handmade roses! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to to shape, cut, and assemble crepe paper into realistic flowers that you can take home.
All materials will be provided. Perfect for adults who enjoy DIY projects, paper crafts, or simply want to try something new in a friendly environment.

That means anything goes: mix up genres, explore something unexpected, revisit an old favorite, or pick up a title you’d never normally choose. From memoirs to mysteries, sci-fi to self-help, poetry to graphic novels. If it sparks your interest, it belongs.

- Emergency Preparedness: Tuesday, March 17th at 6pm
Are you and your family ready for the unexpected?
Join us for an informative and practical discussion on emergency preparedness. This session is designed to provide clear, actionable steps you can take right away to increase your safety and confidence in any emergency situation.
Representatives from Stirling-Rawdon and Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services will be leading the discussion. A question-and-answer period will follow the presentation, giving you the opportunity to ask specific questions, share concerns, and get guidance tailored to your needs. No registration required.

- Learn to Crochet (Adults)
Have you been wanting to learn how to crochet but don’t know where to start? Then sign up for our beginner sessions at the library!

In Level 1 on Tuesday, March 24th at 6pm we will learn how to hold a crochet hook and yarn as well as basic stitches like chain, single crochet, and double crochet. Register online below.

In Level 2 on Tuesday, March 31st at 6pm we will build on what we learned in level 1 and continue with basic stitches like chain, single crochet, and double crochet as well as how to complete a simple crochet project. Register for level 2 below
- Highway to the Sky: Women in Aviation – Tuesday, March 10th at 5pm
Join us on Tuesday, March 10th at 5pm for a presentation on Women in Aviation by former pilot Lola Reid Allin. In 1980 Lola earned her commercial pilot license and became one of the few women in Canada licensed to fly for hire and reward. Lola has worked for the Ontario Government, been a Class I Flight Instructor as well as an award winning photographer and author and much more.
Lola will discuss her memoir, the rewards of an aviation career and the challenges faced by women, then and now. Her memoir, Highway to the Sky: An Aviator’s Journey was released in September 2024 and will be available to purchase. No registration required. Everyone welcome.

- Rhinestone Painting: Tuesday, March 3rd at 6pm
Unwind, sip, and sparkle at our Adult Craft Night! Join us for a relaxing and creative evening as we create stunning rhinestone paintings, beautiful, shimmering artwork made by placing tiny, colorful gems onto a painted canvas.

This month bring & tell us about your favourite recipes & take home recipes to try. Canning, dehydrating, fermenting, pickling. Celebrate the bounty of your 2026 garden harvest (or the grocery stores!).

- Library Book Club – Tuesday, February 17th at 2pm
In this book you club you pick what you want to read based on our monthly theme. Since February is a short month our theme is short.
That could be a short story or a short novel or you could interpret that in a different way. Just read something and then come and tell us about it! No registration required.

- Creative Curiosity Club – Wednesdays 1-3pm
If you like to be creative with art join us on Wednesdays at 1pm. This month we’re experimenting with alcohol markers. This is a space to make art simply for the joy of it, no rules, no pressure, and no experience needed. The focus is on play, curiosity, and self-expression rather than perfection. All supplies are provided, just bring yourself and an open mind.

- Beaded Plants: Adult Craft Night – Tuesday, February 3rd at 6pm

Have you been watching Stranger Things and thought it would be really cool to learn how to play Dungeons & Dragons? Well you’re in luck! Join our all-ages, drop-in Dungeons & Dragons game, no experience necessary. Whether you’re a seasoned hero or brand new to roleplaying, everyone is welcome at the table. Create characters, explore fantastical worlds, and work together to overcome challenges in this fun and beginner-friendly session. Dice, character sheets, and guidance provided. - Self-Care for Care Partners – Wednesday, January 14th at 11:30am
Join us next week, Wednesday, January 14th at 11:30am for Self-Care for Care Partners presented by the Hastings-Prince Edward Alzheimer’s Society.
Many caregivers tend to set their own needs aside while caring for the person living with dementia and hope that if they don’t think about it, the stress might just go away. But you need to take care of yourself, too. This interactive workshop, presented by Hastings – Prince Edward Alzheimer’s Society is designed to help family members and friends caring for people living with dementia. No registration required.

Yacking with Yarn is the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month from 1-3pm. Drop in and join us to share about knitting, crocheting, embroidery, cross stitch or any fibre art that can travel. Did you know that Jane Austen’s 250th birthday is December 16th, 2025? To celebrate our theme for December is all things Jane Austen! Read one of her books or something inspired by Jane Austen and at our meeting, we’ll share what we read. It’s all about connecting over stories, without the pressure of one set reading list. - Watercolour Cards: Adult Craft Night, Tuesday, December 9th at 6pm
Get into the holiday spirit at the library! There are still available spots to join us to paint simple, beautiful Christmas cards using watercolours.
