The Library is a busy place and Library staff cannot assume responsibility for children left unattended within our public facility. The following policy establishes the conditions needed to maintain the well-being of children and the responsibilities of their caregivers.
Children’s Tablets
The library has 3 Leapfrog tablets available for use in the children’s department. These are not for borrowing but can be used anywhere in the library while you visit. They contain a number of fun and educational games and have no access to the internet, except for what is preloaded on them. Ask at the circulation desk if you would like to use one!
Children between the ages of 10-14 are required to have an internet permission form signed by either a parent or guardian before accessing the library’s internet. Once completed, this form is kept on file at the library. Click here to go to our Library Policies page. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
Children’s Programs
The Stirling-Rawdon Public Library offers programs for children year round with more programs being offered during school breaks such as March Break and during the summer holidays.
- After School Hangout – November 20th
Tomorrow we’re getting creative and making a tape resist painting after school. Recommended for 5 and up. No registration required.
- After School Hangout – November 13th
Join us tomorrow after school for a group building STEM challenge! Everyone welcome, recommended for ages 5 and up.
- Animation Club – Friday, November 22nd at noon!
Animation Club returns for the next P.A Day! This time we’ll be learning all about flip book animation and how to make and design one of your very own! Recommended for ages 7 and up. Registration required.

- Storytime – Thursdays at 10:30am
Join us for Storytime on Thursdays at 10:30am, a half hour of songs and stories with your little one. For caregivers and their little ones 4 and under. No registration required.
- After School Hangout – November 6th at 4pm
Join us tomorrow after school to make poppy crafts! We’ll be making a poppy pinwheel and a poppy paper lantern. No registration required. For ages 5+
- After School Hangout: Wednesday, October 23rd at 4pm
Tomorrow after school we’re making spider planters! Join us to make one for yourself and take home a spider plant to care for. Recommended for ages 5 and up, no registration required.
- After School Hangout: Wednesday, October 16th at 4pm
Join us tomorrow after school at 4pm when we’ll be making bird feeders! Everyone welcome, no registration required.
- Take & Make Kit: Book Teacup
Available now! Drop into the children’s department to pick up a Book Teacup Take & Make Kit while supplies last. Each kit contains instructions and the supplies needed to make a book teacup, all you need are scissors and glue!
- After School Hangout: Wednesday, October 9th at 4pm
Tomorrow after school we’re having a trivia contest! Do you have what it takes to be our Trivia Master? Join us tomorrow at 4pm to find out! No registration required. Recommended for ages 5 and up.
- Animation Club: Friday, October 11th at 12
Let’s get animated about animation! Join us to learn how animation works and how animated content is made. Make your own zoetrope! This is an early form of animation technology that helps make an illusion of motion, which is what animation is! Recommended for ages 7 and up.
- After School Hangout: Wednesday, October 2nd at 4pm
Join us tomorrow after school at 4pm for a weaving craft! Everyone welcome, recommended for ages 5 and up.
- Halloween Costume Drive
Do you have costumes you’re no longer using but are still in good condition? Consider donating them to the library next week so they can have a second life with someone else! Drop off any clean, new and gently used costumes any time the library is open October 1st to 5th.

Join us for Coding tomorrow at 4pm after school! Recommended for ages 5 and up, no registration required.

- Take & Make Kits Available now!
Our September Take & Make Kit contains all the supplies needed to make a CD Animal! All you need to provide are scissors and glue. Drop into the children’s department to pick one up while supplies last.

Our summer programs are now finished for another year! We had a fun filled busy summer here at the library and we hoped you had a ton of fun all summer long! Please note there are no Wednesday activities or Storytime this week or next but they will start up again starting September 11th. Hope to see you then!

- Think. Make. Create – Saturday, August 17th – 10-12Tomorrow is the last Think. Make. Create. of the summer! Join us to make a cotton ball launcher, just drop into the children’s department between 10am and 12. No registration required.
- Candyland: Saturday, August 24th – 11-1pmWe hope you’ve marked your calendars for Candyland on Saturday, August 24th because it’s definitely going to be a lot of fun! A great way to end off the summer for sure
- Fair Crafts – Wednesday, August 14th – 2-4pmTomorrow is the last Fair Crafts of the summer because the Stirling Fair is this weekend! This week we’re making a Santa head or a clothespin reindeer so if you’d like to enter a craft into the fair tomorrow is your last chance so join us between 2 and 4pm.
